Magazine Sketch ideas:
Magazine Progress:
A simple, yet abstract cover that includes the color scheme of plants. I used a fancy script to draw attention away from the abstract art. (playing around with some features)
4.12 - A redesigned the cover to focus solely on succulents for this issue. I kept the same fancy script, and used a more minimal don't to describe some articles in this issue, as well as the issue number at the top left. I tried to keep it very minimal and elegant.
4.12 - With the name "Native" I felt it could cover more than just plants so I played around with the idea of something similar to Nat Geo, but still tried to keep it elegant, simple, and planet/ natural centered. I included some real articles that are currently trending. I placed the issue in the bottom right cause I didn't want much to distract from the main photo. For this issue I made it a small name and the date to separate it from other issues easier.
At this point I felt this was the central base of my magazine. I started playing with the organization and added a Magazine deck, the increase the negative space and force the eye to focus on the title and photo I removed the article previews and simplified the articles at the top.
I felt that the cover needed some color to draw the eye. When I initially went with red it seems too aggressive and drew away from the cat, so I picked green. After I felt it could use a little extra and added some native leaves from the amazon and had to revert the title back to white for visibility.
