Magazine Cover sketches

I had a difficult time trying to decide on what kind of magazine to do. But I was browsing for articles that I could potentially use and I found one titled Top 10 things to see and do in the Italian Riviera. It the coastline where all the houses are all colorful and built along a cliffside. I think this is going to work beautifully because I plan make the magazine in a colorful risograph print style.

This is my cover so far. I tried to do a risograph effect with the image but it would take too long and would be extremely difficult to replicate. To do a risograph I would essentially how to trace over every color in the image using CMYK colors and overlapping them. Cool concept but way too much effort.

So instead I decided to make the image look illustrated instead. I did this my image tracing and limiting the number of colors, paths, and corners. The cup on the side was a test with the image tracing and with a texture effect.

As of now I'm still working on the title color and sketching out layouts for the magazine pages.
